“Bored with obvious reality, I find my fascination in transforming it into a subjective point of view. Without touching my subject, I want to come to the moment when, through pure concentration of seeing, the composed picture becomes more made than taken. Without a descriptive caption to justify its existence, it will speak for itself – less descriptive, more creative; less informative, more suggestive; less prose, more poetry.”

I intend, most of the time, to question the concepts of “realism” and “truth” of photography. Rejecting the evident and staying away from stereotypes is dear to me.

Visual ambiguities, overtones and allusions are very appealing to me. I let images to be seen, to stay in the picture, even if they are blurred or duplicated. 

I often try to create photos that would stimulate the viewers to look more than once. I would like them to stop in front of the image and reflect on what they are looking. One of my goals is to problematize the viewers’ gaze

“I like it when one is not certain what one sees. When we do not know why the photographer has taken a picture and when we do not know why we are looking at it, all of a sudden, we discover something that we start seeing. I like this confusion.”

A tendency to abstraction moves me and it is present in the blurred images, the use of silhouettes, reflections and the double or triple figures.  Blurred motion also helps me create more suggestive and connotative photograph.

The communications in this type of photography is open for more than one interpretation. It is an open imagen, quoting Umberto Eco, “opera aperta”. The viewers are also creators of meanings. I would like them to establish a dialogue with the image. The intention is that the photo would become a space of meditation, of reflection, of visual and mental stimuli.

Mi intención como fotógrafa, es problematizar la mirada y desafiar conceptos tradicionales de lo verosímil y lo realista. No busco una descripción realista del mundo. Rechazo lo evidente y me mantengo alejada de los estereotipos.

Me inclino a las alusiones y connotaciones. Las ambigüedades visuales me interesan mucho.  En general, no quiero abstracción total y dejo que la imagen permanezca, aunque se borronee, se duplique o se triplique.

Me importan también los reflejos, las siluetas y variados contrapuntos.

Trato de abrir el espectro de las interpretaciones. Busco una obra abierta a variadas lecturas que no sean lineares ni obvias.  

Quiero que el receptor establezca un diálogo con la imagen.

Una serie de fotografías representan algunas de las fotos que hice y hago en el período de la pandemia, tanto en los momentos de cuarentena más severa como en algunas salidas bajo la presión del miedo.

Fotografiar dentro del hogar es todo un nuevo desafío.  Hablo desde el yo.
